For a low, annual premium, Insurance4carhire.com provides excess insurance protecting the customer against excess charges whenever they rent a car.

Your car rental includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance. However you are still liable for excess charges on CDW. When a rental car is damaged or stolen, the driver is asked to pay a portion of the repair or replacement costs. This is known as the Excess.

Insurance4carhire covers you not only for the total amount of Excess for which you are liable if the car is damaged or stolen, but also for damage to the undercarriage of the car, windows and tyres.

Insurance For Car Hire Explained

Will my car rental agreement already include insurance? In most cases yes (particularly in Europe), you are covered against accidental damage and theft of the vehicle. This is called Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) or Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and is included in the price of your car rental agreement.

So why do I need a policy from insurance4carhire if I am already insured? The LDW or CDW provided by the car rental company will usually include an excess. This means in the event of an accident or theft of the vehicle you will be liable to pay the first part of the claim. The amount of excess varies from country to country but typically starts at £300 and can go up to over £1000!

So what does insurance4carhire do? They offer car rental excess insurance i.e. their policy will reimburse you in the event of the car rental company charging you an excess on damage to their vehicle or the theft of it. If for example you damaged the bumper of the vehicle and the car rental company had an excess of £500 and billed you this amount, they would reimburse you this charge subject to you providing the necessary documentation to them.

So what is the insurance the car rental company always try to sell me at the counter? This is also an excess insurance (Super CDW) they attempt to sell, to reduce your excess liability. However if for example you were renting a car for 10 days, and the extra excess insurance cost £8 a day, you will pay an extra £80 on top of you rental charge! An annual policy that allows multiple rentals from insurance4carhire starts from £49! Click Here for Great Annual Policies

Typical Europe Car Hire Example Mr Smith hires a car from a leading provider in Spain. He is hiring a car for 14 days, and has been quoted daily car hire excess insurance (Super CDW) for £12/day. This comes to a total of £168.00, in addition to the actual price of hiring the car!! In this scenario, an annual Europe policy @£49.00 from Insurance4carhire would save Mr Smith a whooping £119.00!! What about tyres and window damage? Will anyone cover that? Yes! Insurance4carhire policies (unlike the insurance offered at the counter by car rental companies) also covers you for damage to the vehicle’s windows, tyres and also the under-carriage. I4CH policies are truly comprehensive!

What about renting a vehicle in USA/Canada? Do the same procedures as Europe apply? The USA and Canada car rental procedure is slightly different, as you do not normally get CDW/LDW included in the price of the car rental. You must have this insurance in place by law before you allowed to take the vehicle. Again the car rental company will attempt to sell their own CDW/LDW at the counter, which can be as high as $30 per day!

What can Insurance4carhire offer me for USA & Canada?I4CH offer an annual policy will cover you for the CDW/LDW up to a maximum of US$ 80,000 per claim, regardless of who was at fault e.g. if you were unfortunate enough to write off a vehicle with a value of US$ 40,000, you would be fully covered.
In addition their policy includes Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), which provides third party insurance for the policyholder up to $ 1 million. It also provides cover should the policyholder have an accident with an uninsured motorist.
